Authorities have released a new video timeline and a slightly clearer image of the man suspected in the Brown University shooting. They provided no indication Tuesday that they were any closer to zeroing in on his identity. Investigators have been canvassing Providence homes, yards and dumpsters in search of videos or other clues. Saturday’s campus shooting killed two students and wounded nine others. In all of the videos made public, the suspect’s face was masked or turned away. Authorities have only been able to give a vague description of him. In the new video timeline, footage shows the man running along quiet streets before the attack.
Authorities searching for a shooter who attacked students at Brown University are asking for tips from people who might have video of the shooter potentially casing the area the week before the attack. The search for the shooter was in its fifth day Wednesday. The city of Providence is on edge. Investigators have shown no sign that they're close to figuring out who was behind Saturday's attack. Two students were killed and nine others wounded. Authorities have released several clips from the day of the attack. The person authorities are trying to identify in the clips was masked or had their head turned.
Officials say man who is suspected of killing two and wounding several others at Brown University has been found dead in a New Hampshire storage facility. Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez says Claudio Neves Valente, 48, a former Brown student and Portuguese national, was found dead Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Â Perez says they believe the suspect acted alone. A law enforcement official has told the Associated Press that investigators believe Valente is responsible for both the shooting at Brown and the killing of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor on Monday. Authorities have not formally confirmed a connection. The official could not publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.
