Two paramedics helped deliver a baby girl on a Delta flight as it landed in Portland, Oregon. Ashley Blair gave birth to her daughter Brielle Renee Blair on Friday night. Paramedics Tina Fritz and Kaarin Powell used blankets from passengers and a shoestring to tie off the umbilical cord. Fritz said the birth was fast and simple. The paramedics were initially helping an ailing passenger when they were asked to assist Blair. After the birth, the mother and baby were taken to a hospital for observation. Blair was flying from Tennessee to Oregon to be with her mother for the expected birth. The baby came two weeks ahead of schedule, and the plane 20 minutes early.
