The U.S. stock market is storming back as Wall Street recovers much of its losses from earlier in the week. The S&P 500 jumped 1.7% Friday and was flirting with its best day since May. The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 1,060 points, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 2%. Chip companies helped drive the gains on hopes for more big spending by Amazon and other customers building out their AI offerings. Stocks also got a boost from a better reading on sentiment among U.S. consumers. Bitcoin rose back above $70,000 to halt its weekslong plunge, at least for now.
