U.S. stocks are bouncing back from big swings that pummeled them this week. The S&P 500 rose 0.9% early Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1.2%, and the Nasdaq composite gained 0.8%. Chip companies helped drive the gains on hopes for big spending by Amazon and others. The S&P 500 is still flirting with its worst week since November because of worries about whether Amazon and others will end up making enough profit to make the AI investments worth it. Software stocks were also hurt by worries about AI stealing customers. Bitcoin steadied after its weekslong plunge and rose back above $68,000.
