Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is facing a new round of questioning from lawmakers over the Iran war. The House and Senate subcommittees that oversee defense spending are holding back-to-back hearings Tuesday to review the Trump administration’s next military budget proposal. The discussions underway in the House subcommittee have already veered into the administration's handling of the Iran war. More scrutiny may come later from Senate Republicans who have expressed concerns over the lack of congressional approval of the conflict. That includes Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who voted to halt the conflict last month because she said she wants to see a defined strategy for bringing the war to a close.
