Senator Jacky Rosen was sworn in for her second term today in Washington, D.C.
During her first term, she introduced over 80 bills and gained recognition as one of the most bipartisan lawmakers in the U.S. Senate. A new Congress began on Friday.
Senator Rosen tried to fast-track the Washoe County Lands Bill, but it was stalled in parliamentary process with just one "no" vote.
"This is by Nevadans, for Nevadans. So we have to put that Washoe County Lands Bill back on; continue to fight for it. This is how we protect and preserve the lands that we need to," says Senator Rosen. "And also, use what we need to for economic development: Affordable housing, parks and schools, churches."
Senator Rosen has more bills ready to go: The "Train More Nurses Act," co-sponsored with Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins, the "Small Business Childcare Act" in collaboration with Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, and the "CONSTRUCTS (Creating Opportunities for New Skills Training at Rural and Underserved Colleges and Trade Schools) Act" aimed at creating half a million construction jobs to address housing issues.
And with a new Trump administration, Senator Rosen is also taking a bipartisan approach.
"We'll take a look at it. We'll analyze it like we always do. If it's good for Nevada, I'm going to work with people to either make it better or support it," said Senator Rosen.
