U.S. stocks are hanging near their records as oil prices fall. The S&P 500 rose 0.1% Wednesday and added to its all-time high set the day before. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 171 points, and the Nasdaq composite rose 0.1%. Stocks of companies with big fuel bills helped lead the way on hopes that lower oil prices will remove a big burden for them. Micron Technology rose some more after surging the day before to become the latest company worth $1 trillion. Stocks of oil-and-gas companies fell after the price of Brent crude dropped more than 3%.
