A man was arrested on Wednesday morning following a crash between a car and a motorcycle in Spanish Springs that hospitalized the motorcycle rider.
The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries in the crash, which happened around 6:20 a.m., according to a release from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived at the scene of the crash on Calle De La Plata, they found that the driver of the car had fled the scene on foot.
WCSO deputies, with the help of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Tribal Police, set up a perimeter and searched for the suspect, who they found within 25 minutes in the hills about half a mile away from the crash.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Dennis Graham, was detained and transported to a local hospital for evidentiary testing related to driving under the influence.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation.
Calle De La Plata was closed for hours from Fuggles Drive to Eagle Canyon Drive following the crash, but reopened around 11 a.m.
Graham is currently booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges including driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm, leaving the scene of an accident causing injury, duty to render aid, driving without a valid drivers license, operate a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating a vehicle with expired registration.
