The Storey County Sheriff's Office is alerting property owners in the area of a new phone scam.
The scammers call and pretend to be with the Storey County Sheriff's Office, and claim that the victim has missed jury duty or something else of legal importance.
They want to let everyone know that the office will never call regarding issues like that.
Officials urge the public to never provide your personal information to these types of requests, or click links that have been sent via text message or email.
If you receive any calls where people say they are from the Storey County Sheriff's Office, hang up and contact the sheriff's office to enquire directly at (775) 847-0959.
