The Nevada State Police have released details about a deadly truck crash that happened Friday in eastern Nevada.
On Friday, January 31 at around 12:10 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were called to the scene of a crash on Interstate 80, near Carlin, NV.
An investigation uncovered that a Freightliner semi-truck was traveling westbound on I-80 in the left lane when the driver veered off the side of the road and into the center median.
The front of the truck struck an embankment, went airborne, and landed in the center median on the other side.
Officials suspect that the crash was due to driver fatigue.
One passenger, 49-year old Aliaksandr Maisak of Matthews, NC, was asleep in the bed of the cab and sustained fatal injuries during the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries, then arrested for vehicular manslaughter.
The crash is currently being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.
