A preliminary magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck near Portola in Plumas County early Monday morning. 

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory says the 7 a.m. temblor struck about 12.9 miles northwest of Portola.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
