Tuesday marked the first of three Education Days with the Reno Aces, and thousands of kids ran around Greater Nevada Field, learning about a multitude of jobs and subjects.

The team's Chief Revenue Officer, Doug Raftery, says the Aces put this event on to be educational, but also says it's really all about having fun.

"We're having a bunch of fun today, but also an opportunity for kids to interact and learn something as well from around the concourse," said Raftery.

All of the students who attended got a booklet with some tasks to fill out and walked around to all of the different booths, each of which had something to teach them.

One pair of boys said they learned about wildfires, and a group of third graders said they learned about mining in Nevada.

About 3,000 kids attended on Tuesday, and 8,000 more are expected to attend two other Education Days next month. Raftery says the best part of these days is getting to let kids experience the games for free.

"You don't realize that a lot of kids maybe don't come with their little league teams or with their families. So they come out, and they enjoy the kids zone, they come and they enjoy the food. But more so, it's really a family environment that they're able to get out of school in a different environment than what they're used to, instead of sitting inside the classroom where they can still learn, but just do it in a bit of a different way," said Raftery.

The next Education Day is May 14, and the last is May 26.
