The Reno Police Department responded to a motel room in the 1100 block of East Fourth Street around 4 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 after reports that a young boy wasn’t breathing.
The officers who were there first started lifesaving efforts until Reno Fire and REMSA arrived.
The child was taken to a hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
After an investigation and review of evidence, a woman was arrested as the suspected killer. She was later identified as 37-year-old Ansonia Laws and the victim was confirmed to be her son.
Laws was booked into the Washoe County Jail on one count of open murder.
