records

It’s going to feel like spring in the Truckee Meadows through the first half of the upcoming week with temperatures in the 60’s.

The average high is 49 degrees in Reno for the end of January.

If Reno makes it up to 64 degrees on Sunday it will be enough to match the record for the day.

The record to beat on Monday is 65 degrees and the one for Tuesday is 69 degrees.

It won’t be quite warm enough on Tuesday to break the daily record, but temperatures will still be roughly ten to fifteen degrees above average for this time of year.

departure from average

It will be nice skiing weather on Sunday and Monday with temperatures in the 40’s above 7000’ through Monday.

Winds will be light too. Highs will be in the 50’s at Lake Tahoe, with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon after morning fog.

tahoe five day

High pressure is in place for now, keeping temperatures warm, but the ridge will move east this week, allowing for a storm to move in by late Wednesday.

This one will give the valley a good chance for rain, and snow in the mountains.

The extended forecast is looking cooler than normal for the beginning of February. Don’t put your winter coat away just yet, you’ll need it again by the second half of the upcoming week.
