Trustees of The Washoe County School District met on Tuesday to discuss labor shortages, the hiring of a new Superintendent and a possible bell schedule change.
Board members decided to not move forward or delay the decision of changing starting school times, they say more analysis is needed and it would cause a great impact on families and staff.
They also choose which firm will help them find a new Superintendent.
Rezoning was also a topic, it has been decided to accept zoning adjustments to Verdi Elementary School, Roy Gomm Elementary School, Swope Middle School and Billinghurst Middle School.
As for labor shortage issues the district is facing, they approved to bring retired police officers back to help fix that gap.
“There are several retirements in the next year, so we are doing this in preparation so we will have the ability to bring officers back, either from the school district or other agencies in the state of Nevada, says Katy Delone.
