Israel says it killed the leader of Hamas’ military wing, one of the architects of Oct. 7 attacks

The Israeli military says an airstrike in Gaza has killed Izz al-Din al-Haddad, a leader of Hamas’ military wing. He was one of the last surviving architects of the October 7, 2023, attacks that triggered the war in Gaza. The attacks killed around 1,200 people in Israel and saw over 250 taken hostage. Israel's retaliatory strikes have killed more than 71,700 people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Despite a ceasefire in October, Gaza has seen near-daily Israeli fire. Al-Haddad's death comes amid ongoing tensions and accusations of ceasefire violations between Israel and Hamas.
