Russia pressed its missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas, killing four people, including a child. Officials say Moscow mainly has been targeting the power grid. This escalation since late August puts pressure on Ukraine as colder weather approaches. Ukrainian officials report Moscow isn't engaging with U.S. efforts to halt the 4 1/2-year-old full-scale invasion. Russia demands a comprehensive settlement, including Ukraine surrendering land, which Kyiv finds unacceptable. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russian attacks are focusing on energy infrastructure. He has thanked foreign countries for air defense support and stresses the need for more protection as winter nears.
