President Trump lashed out again at special counsel Robert Mueller Monday calling him disgraced and discredited in a tweet … and going on to say Mueller "spent over 30 hours with the White House councel (sic), only with my approval, for purposes of transparency."

The president is referring to Chief White House lawyer Don McGahn who spoke with Mueller's team three times. His interviews could provide Mueller with insight into the question of whether the president tried to obstruct justice in the Russia investigation.

“We did nothing. There's no collusion,” President Trump said on Friday.

The president's lawyers say they are not afraid of what McGahn said about the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the handling of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. But they are concerned about the president walking into a perjury trap.

Rudy Giuliani, one of President Trump's lawyers, argued Sunday that Trump could perjure himself during an interview with Mueller.

“When you tell me he should testify because he'll tell the truth and he shouldn't worry, that's so silly because it's somebody's version of the truth, not the truth.”

“Truth is truth,” said Chuck Todd during an episode of NBC's ‘Meet the Press.’

Giuliani responded, “No it isn't. Truth isn't truth!”

Giuliani tried to clarify his comments in a tweet Monday saying he was referring to the classic "he said, she said" puzzle. Sometimes further inquiry can reveal the truth other times it doesn't.”

The President has said he allowed McGahn to testify because he has quote -- nothing to hide.

So far, Mueller has not subpoenaed President Trump to testify.

McGahn, as White House Counsel, works for the White House, not for President Trump in a personal capacity.
