Reno Man Sentenced to Prison on Child Lewdness Charges

Marcos Martin-Montoya

The Washoe County District Attorney says a Reno man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to lewdness with a child under 14.

On Monday, 35-year-old Marcos Martin-Montoya was sentenced to two life sentences by a Washoe County district judge. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to the two charges.

Each count carries a penalty of life in prison with the possibility of parole beginning when a minimum of 10 years has been served. The earliest he could be eligible for parole would be after serving 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors say the case began in May 2015 when law enforcement received a report of inappropriate touching involving a 12-year-old girl. They say a subsequent investigation determined that the child had been sexually abused by Martin-Montoya since 2009. He was arrested that same day.
