Run for Education Fundraiser for WCSD Health and Academic Fitness

The Education Alliance of Washoe County is holding their 11th Annual Run for Education this Sunday.

The Run for Education is a 10-K Run, 5K Run/Walk, ½ mile Kids’ Fun Run, Sparks Marina March, and Fitness Fair that supports WCSD students, with proceeds going to the Kids in Motion (KIM) and Passport Programs.

The Run for Education will be held at Legends at Sparks Marina, 1200 Scheels Drive in Sparks on Sunday, October 23 from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.

The Education Alliance says that more than 3,600 runners are expected.

Starting at 6:30am, participants may register for 5K and 10K races. Starting at 7:45am, participants can register for ½ Mile Fun Run and Sparks Marina March.  There will also be a Fitness Fair running during the event.

The rest of the schedule for the Run for Education is as follows:

  • 7:30 am  Welcome by Superintendent Traci Davis, Emcee Arianna Bennett, Education Alliance President Colin Robertson, Sparks Mayor Geno Martini, Reno Councilmember David Bobzien, Washoe County Manager John Slaughter, and Erik Olson, vice president and CEO of Renown Regional Medical Center
  • 8 am  Start of 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run
  • 9 am  5K Awards
  • 9:10 am  10K Awards
  • 9:30-10:00 am  ½ Mile Fun Run begins for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade
  • 10:30 am  Awards Ceremony
