Victims of the Camp Fire, many of whom lost everything in the deadly blaze this year, got a special Christmas getaway.

The Franciscan Friars of San Damiano opened its doors to 137 Paradise residents on Christmas.

Typically the retreat is closed all of Christmas week, but with the help of volunteers, staff, and donors, the retreat is offering not only comfort, but hope to those who lost everything in the Camp Fire.

"This place is very healing for people, and they have said just coming here has started the healing process,” says Lisa Briones.

Guests walked through Santa's workshop and got to pick out gifts for their families and friends.

The fire, started November 8th and was fully contained on November 25th. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. More 18,000 structures were destroyed and 86 people were killed.
