A volunteer at the Clark County Museum has discovered two human skulls and two human jaw bones in archival storage boxes prompting an investigation.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday that the 50-year-old museum grew from a collection of items from the Las Vegas Valley's first female mortician.
Museum registrar Cynthia Sanford says this was the first time human remains were found in the collection. Sanford says a volunteer was going through archival boxes Dec. 5 when the four bones were found.
Officials say the bones were brought to the Clark County coroner's office for investigation.
It is unclear if the bones were from the mortician's collection.
