Fire Alarm

The Sparks Fire Department (SFD) has announced it will be offering Sparks residents, with homes built before 1994, free installation of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors as part of their ProjectSAFE Program.

They say ProjectSAFE (Survive A Fire Emergency) was established in 2007 and provides education and information about smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and general home and fire safety.

SFD says the ProjectSAFE Program provides 10-year smoke alarms in each sleeping area, hallway, and floor level.

They say it also provides 10-year batteries if residents current detectors are less than two-years-old.

SFD says strobe and bed-shaker alarm kits are also available for the hearing-impaired.

They say they will also provide a personal home safety checklist, escape plan diagram, stickers, and other safety information for the entire family.

SFD says residents of Sparks with homes built before 1994 are encouraged to call the Fire Prevention Bureau at (775) 353-2266 or email them at sfdoffice@cityofsparks.us to schedule the an installation time.

They say the next installation dates are September 17th and 19th and October 15th and 17th.
