Sparks Mayor Ron Smith delivered his first State of the City address on Monday morning.
“I’m excited to showcase the wonderful things ‘happening here’ in Sparks during my first State of the City address,” Mayor Smith said.
Mayor Smith discussed the transformation of downtown Victorian Square and the Sparks Marina District and gave overviews of various departments city-wide.
“Growth, opportunity and progress is this year’s theme,” Mayor Smith said. “I’m also thrilled to talk about the excitement of adding 32 new positions to the city of Sparks compliment, including police officers, firefighter/paramedics, dispatchers and many other positions throughout the various departments.”
Sparks City Councilmembers Donald Abbott, Ed Lawson, Paul Anderson, Charlene Bybee and Kristopher Dahir are featured in the picturesque video-portion of the address, discussing important city and regional topics.
Mayor Smith was sworn in as the city of Sparks’ 25th Mayor on November 13, 2018. He had previously served as a Sparks City Councilman since 2006.
Directly following the State of the City address, attendees are invited to a reception in the lobby of the legislative building.
