Man City dominates Arsenal to win English League Cup and make statement in Premier League title race
Manchester City has won the English League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the final at Wembley Stadium. Nico O’Reilly scored both goals in the second half as City claimed the first major piece of domestic silverware this season. Victory may also have handed Pep Guardiola’s team a psychological advantage in the race for the Premier League title as it aims to chase down Arsenal’s nine-point lead at the top. City’s win ended Arsenal’s bid this season for an unprecedented quadruple of major trophies by an English team, including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. Tottenham’s Premier League survival fight worsened with a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, one of three Premier League games played Sunday.
