Two-time Stanley Cup champion Florida, Toronto, St. Louis and so many perennial contenders were sellers at the NHL trade deadline. It opened the gates for a new set of buyers who are looking to take the next step into the playoffs and beyond. That includes the New York Islanders, who acquired versatile forward Brayden Schenn from St. Louis. The Buffalo Sabres got Schenn's brother Luke as part of a trio of trades to bolster their odds of ending the league's longest postseason drought.
