UPDATE: The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) has released new details on a car chase that happened on May 1.

Officials said DCSO was advised that Carson City Sheriff's Office was chasing a stolen car southbound on US-395 entering Douglas County.

They said DCSO took over the pursuit and the suspect, Fabian Campos, was taken into custody at the intersection of Johnson Lane and US-395.

Officials said during the pursuit, Campos displayed a badge out of the sunroof of the stolen car in an attempt to identify himself as a law enforcement officer, to allegedly get deputies to stop chasing him. DCSO said during the pursuit, Campos struck one of the DCSO patrol units.

They said when the stolen car was stopped, Campos again displayed the badge to try and identify himself as an FBI agent.

Officials said Campos has an extensive criminal history and is suspected of stealing the car he was driving from an auto repair shop in Los Angeles, California on April 29. They said the suspect in that theft was seen on surveillance video looked like Campos. Officials said during the theft in Los Angeles, the suspect was found by employees of the shop and the suspect displayed a badge and told the employees that he was an FBI agent and was taking the car as evidence. They said a hat and jacket similar to the ones worn by the suspect were recovered from the stolen car Campos was driving.

Officials said on the same day the car was stolen, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department tried to stop the stolen car, but that's when Campos allegedly began the chase. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department decided to stop the pursuit and let the stolen car escape.

They said Campos was booked into the Douglas County Jail and charged with eluding a police officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving and driving without due care. His bail is $100,000 cash only.

Original Story: The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a man was arrested after a pursuit on Friday.

Officials said Carson City Sheriff's Office located a stolen red Audi two-door car that was stolen out of California. They said it was found in Carson City and after Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies tried to stop the Audi, the driver fled.

Officials said Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies chased the car into Douglas County and requested help from Douglas County Sheriff's Office. They said Douglas County Sheriff's Office took over the pursuit due to the extreme recklessness of the driver.

They said they chased the Audi southbound on US-395 onto Johnson Lane, up to the dirt area east of Johnson Lane. Officials said sometime during this engagement, the driver tried to strike Douglas County Sheriff's Office patrol units with the Audi.

They said deputies chased the car westbound onto Johnson Lane. Douglas County Sheriff's Office used an intervention technique and stopped the Audi at the intersection of Johnson Lane and US-395, resulting in the damage of two Douglas County Sheriff's Office vehicles. They said no deputies were harmed.

Officials said the suspect, identified as Fabian Campos, was arrested and after medical clearance, was booked into the Douglas County Jail.
