On Friday, Nevada students, alumni and the rest of the community gathered downtown for fun festivities and a parade down Virginia Street. The University marching band and over 40 student and community-made floats, marched to the university quad for the homecoming pep rally.
University President Marc Johnson and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, stood above downtown Reno as they pumped up the crowd before Saturday's homecoming game. They then flipped the switch to turn the Reno Arch blue, in recognition of the Nevada Wolf Pack.
“It's a true example of how this community is coming together with the University to be one,” says Johnson.
Organizers expected to see 6,000 community members come out to the homecoming festivities to support Wolf Pack pride. Nevada will take on Boise State, Saturday night, inside Mackay Stadium.
