Baby Animal Days is ongoing until the end of May, and this weekend it’s Military Week at Andelin Family Farm. Come spend time with all of the new calves, lambs, goats, and chicks as we approach summer.
Andelin Family Farm offers a number of activities at Baby Animal Days that I was able to experience were not just adorable but also educational as well. In the chick barn, I was able to hold a baby chick for the first time and discovered that chicks are independent from birth aside from needing to wet their beaks to understand what water is and how to drink. It also allowed me to experience the complete indifference that a baby chick has towards a human.
In the goat pen, I had the complete joy of holding one of the little ones after it leaped into my lap after a few unsuccessful attempts of the kid finding its footing. They do nibble at just about everything that they can, however they failed to devour my pants or my photographer’s cables and camera equipment.
One of Baby Animal Days’ premium activities is calf cuddling, where you can connect with a baby cow. I was able to hang out with Pumpkin and Bert who were very welcoming in their pen; however, be aware that these are still cows and can knock you over with relative ease.
And with Military Week, members of the military and veterans get free admission with valid ID. Red, White and Blue Sundae specials will be available, and Saturday the JROTC Rifle Team will be performing a demonstration.
Baby Animal Days is open from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Friday and Saturday. You can find more information about Baby Animal Days here.
