The City of Reno is highlighting West Street Plaza’s newest renovations at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.

It is happening on May 9 at noon at West Street Plaza.

The celebration will include remarks from City leaders and a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Upgrades to West Street Plaza include a new mural created by artist Anthony Ortega, interactive seating pieces called “Pebbles,” and new furniture encompassing bistro tables, chairs, shade umbrellas, and lounge chairs.

The renovations were funded by the American Rescue Plan Act through the Truckee River Vision Plan recommendations.

“We’re so proud of the updates at West Street Plaza and hope our residents enjoy the new look and feel as we get into events season here in the Biggest Little City,” said Reno Vice Mayor Kathleen Taylor. “We invite locals and visitors to discover what our downtown corridor has to offer.”

The event will kick off a weekend of activities including food trucks, rolling recreation, and live street performances.
