Update: Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has announced that a murder prosecution has resulted in a life sentence for 29-year-old Dontay Thor Sevier.
Sevier was found guilty after a weeklong trial held in June on a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.
They say Sevier was sentenced by Chief Judge Scott Freeman to life in prison without the possibility of parole and an additional 20-year prison term for the deadly weapon enhancement.

Police say U.S. marshals arrested 27-year-old Dontay Sevier last September in Tempe, Arizona.
U.S. marshals recently served him with an arrest warrant in connection with the death of 26-year-old Vidal Smith and transported him to the Washoe County Jail in Reno where he was being held without bail Tuesday on an open murder charge.
Smith was found dead of any apparent shotgun wound lying in a downtown street on Aug. 31, 2017.
It's not clear if Sevier has a lawyer or will be appointed one at his initial court appearance scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
