With more calls coming in about social gatherings, the Washoe County Health District is proposing to open bars, with strict guidelines.

The proposal will be considered by the state's health response task force and if approved, bars in our region could reopen at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

"Typically when we go out there what we see [are] parties with over 100 people in a single-family residence," says Alex Woodley with the City of Reno.

During the same briefing the Washoe County Health Offical Kevin Dick also discussed a plan for both flu and COVID-19 vaccination. He mentioned the importance of getting the flu vaccine to avoid an overwhelmed health care system and explained they are developing a plan to tackle COVID-19 vaccinations when the time is here.

"It looks like the vaccine will be one that requires two doses, the initial dose and a booster in about a month or so," says Kevin Dick.
