A 5-year-old child was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while chasing a ball in the street, and the driver left the scene without stopping to help, according to the Reno Police Department.
The crash happened at about 8:33 p.m. on Monday, August 17, at the intersection of 9th Street and Dolomite Circle. Personnel from the Reno Police Department, Reno Fire Department and REMSA responded to reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
The child was taken to a hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries. Police do not currently have a description of the vehicle or driver.
The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation. Investigators believe numerous witnesses may have left before officers arrived and are asking anyone who saw the crash or has information to contact police.
