We had exclusive access to Senator Jacky Rosen's visit to the Patagonia Service Center in Reno on Friday to meet workers, discuss environmental issues, and engage in the democratic process.

The purpose was two-fold: Patagonia is a huge stakeholder in our community as it generates hundreds of jobs.

Patagonia is giving employees October 29th off to canvass, meaning they'll be knocking on doors, writing letters, and calling voters - focusing on environmental issues.

Senator Jacky Rosen specifically helped write and pass the Washoe County Lands Bill.

"We pulled together all the stakeholders, you know, we actually have 28 tribal communities all throughout Nevada, but we pulled together the tribal communities, the conservation community, our business leaders, our elected officials, our economic community, and defense officials. We also have a lot of things going on in Nevada, right," said (D-NV) U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen.

The Washoe County Land Bill protects over 1 million acres of land, provides 15,000 acres for affordable housing, and opens land for schools, churches, and parks. It also allocates 275 million to expand I-80.

Senator Rosen also helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which made a historic investment in clean energy jobs in the state to mitigate climate change. We spoke to Meghan Wolf, Patagonia Reno's Employee Engagement Manager about the company's efforts to support candidates who they say enact good climate and planetary policies:

"We've worked with Senator Rosen's office many times over the years on different conservation and land use issues and we were happy to show her our facility. How we do our recycling, how we have a worn wear program for recycling, various other environmental issues," said Wolf.

Sparks Mayor Ed Lawson, a lifelong Republican, endorsed Senator Jacky Rosen last week. One of the main issues he cited for doing so was Senator Rosen's work on the Washoe County Lands Bill.

We contacted Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sam Brown's campaign team to get Brown's stance on the $981 billion Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:

“With housing prices through the roof, Nevada is in desperate need of more land, on a reliable timetable, released from the federal government back to Nevadans. Senator Rosen has had 8 years to do deliver on this issue and make life more affordable, but she has instead chosen to embrace woke environmental ideologies that destroy Nevada lands and drive up the cost of housing. Nevadans are ready for a new direction, and Sam Brown’s plan will lower prices and make housing more affordable for all of us, while protecting Nevada’s environment and resources.”
