The Nevada System of Higher Education, which oversees schools such as University of Nevada, Reno, UNLV, College of Southern Nevada, has asked all schools to plan on transitioning to online courses by April 3.
The University of Nevada, Reno has canceled the 2020 Reno Jazz Festival amid coronavirus concerns.
UNR says this year’s festival would have gathered more than 8,000 students and family members from across Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington.
“We feel that cancellation, while far less than ideal, is a respectful and prudent step intended to ensure the safety of thousands of aspiring musicians and their families.”
UNR goes on to say, “While all of us that work to prepare for the Festival are incredibly disappointed, we hope you will join us in carrying our momentum and enthusiasm into next year’s Festival April 22-24, 2021.”
