The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) announced Wednesday two technology companies will be moving their headquarters to Northern Nevada.

StemExpress and PayCertify are expected to create more than 200 combined biotech and fintech jobs over the next several years, officials say. 

StemExpress supports medical research, clinical trials and commercialization of disease specific treatment, cell and gene therapies and precision and regenerative medicine. StemExpress says it has been bringing COVID-19 solutions to numerous states, tribal and territorial governments, health care entities, schools and more during. StemExpress just opened COVID-19 testing facilities at four colleges in California. 

StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer said StemExpress is excited for the endless growth opportunities that will come with the move to Reno. “The choice for StemExpress to open a center of excellence, training center, and warehouse in Reno, stemmed from Nevada's established reputation as a business-friendly state - offering a multitude of incentives for growing companies," Dyer continued. Dyer says the company is actively hiring and is looking forward to offering internships for college and high school students. 

PayCertify is a fintech platform connecting banking and business. The company says it is an all-in-one platform for fraud prevention, acquiring and card issuing. PayCertify provides analytics and insights to connect data sets in real-time on both sides of a transaction. 

Founder and CEO of PayCertify Chase Harmer says Nevada is a good fit because the state is building a big entrepreneur network. "Moving the company has always been part of the plan for PayCertify, California taxes are extremely high and the state has become extremely crowded, we wanted to go to a place where they help businesses grow and thrive, and Reno, Nevada is a great place to do it. We want to be where the action is, and Reno is now becoming the new Silicon Valley," Harmer continued. Harmer says the company is looking to hire over 100 people in the next 2-3 years.
