Veteran Home Resident Dies From Coronavirus

Southern Nevada State Veterans Home says one of their residents died from coronavirus on his way to the hospital. 

The Navy Korean War veteran is an 86-year-old male who was a beloved member of the Veterans Home Community and will be deeply missed. 

Southern Nevada State Veterans Home says he died Saturday after being transported from the home and admitted to an area hospital. 

At the time of the transfer he was not a suspected victim of COVID-19, but later a test revealed he was positive with the infection. 

The Veterans Home says their staff is following protocol to prevent disease spread. 

“Our hearts are extremely heavy,” said Nevada Department of Veterans Services Director Katherine Miller. “We mourn the passing of this Navy Korean War veteran who served our nation with honor and dignity in its hour of need. He was also a beloved member of our Veterans Home community and will be deeply missed. On behalf of everyone at the Nevada Department of Veterans Services and the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home, we offer our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. We grieve with them.”
