WCSD Approves Contract with Washoe Education Association, Includes Salary Increase for Teachers

McQueen High School also has two reported cases of pertussis, one confirmed and one probable.

Miguel Sepulveda Elementary School is experiencing a GI outbreak. It's unknown how many people are affected by this outbreak.

Incline Elementary School is experiencing an outbreak of an ILI. It's unknown how many people are affected by this outbreak, as well.

Gastrointestinal infections are viral, bacterial or parasitic infections that cause gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract involving both the stomach and the small intestine. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory disease. It is caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis.

Pertussis is known for uncontrollable, violent coughing which often makes it hard to breathe. After cough fits, someone with pertussis often needs to take deep breaths, which result in a “whooping” sound. Pertussis can affect people of all ages, but can be very serious, even deadly, for babies less than a year old.
