The East Fork Fire Protection District tells us that a  wildland fire, since named the Ruby Fire started east of Gardnerville in the Pine Nut Mountains Wednesday.Â
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the Ruby Fire has burned about 20 acres.
Voluntary evacuations were requested Wednesday afternoon but residents have since been allowed to return to their homes. Deputies say there are still traffic controls on Out R Way and Pine Nut Road #2.Â
Deputies say there are seven brush trucks, two helicopters, two water trucks, and one hand crew committed to the fire, that sparked just after noon on Wednesday.
Some smoke may be visible from Highway 395. The fire remains under investigation.
