Losing weight and living healthier lifestyles are always popular New Year's resolutions. Local gyms say they want to help people reach their goals regardless of starting the year in a pandemic.

Suzanne Lucas, is the owner of two Anytime Fitness locations, one in Caughlin Ranch and the other in Galena. She says it seems like people have been ready to leave 2020 behind and head back to the gym in 2021.

"Every time we come in here, we feel better when we leave and more able to handle the day," said Lucas. "We have so many frontline workers, nurses or doctors that come in here and say please don't close the gym. We need our release we need to stay healthy."

Even with the Governor's capacity restrictions, Anytime Fitness has room for more members, and there are incentives to start the New Year off healthy. From December 28 to January 11 you can join Anytime Fitness for $1. New members receive a fitness consultation with a coach and a 30-day workout plan. "We took our favorite studios and combined what we loved about all different types of gyms and made our ideal fitness studio," said Lacey.

The owners opened the boutique gym in October of 2019, and despite 2020's challenges, they say they have been able to build a strong community of accountability and support.

"We have created this community of people that we adore and we've been able to help this past year through so many struggles and they have been, like, our ride-or-die members that have become like family to us." Lacey said. "In 2021 we're really excited to see the new faces come through our door, and we can't wait to help any and everyone of all ages, get fit."
