Mono County Sheriff's Office says crews responded for a skier rescue on Saturday evening near Bridgeport.

They said the injured skier was a 29-year-old man from San Francisco.

They said he had fallen while skiing in the West Couloir/Gully on the Incredible Hulk in the Hoover Wilderness.

Mono County Sheriff's Office says a party of three hiked in from Mono Village, waded across Robinson Creek and skied up Little Slide Canyon. When the terrain became too steep, they removed their skis and boot packed up the couloir. That's when one of the skiers fell and broke his left leg.

One of the party member hiked out to Mono Village to call 9-1-1. The Mono County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team sent out three field teams, totaling 18 members.

The Search and Rescue Team hiked three miles on the trail, crossed at a downed tree bridge and used snowshoes to get to the injured skier.

Mono County Sheriff's Office says he was treated on scene and then transported back to Mono Village, where he was taken to the hospital via CareFlight.

Mono County Sheriff's Office says out of the 18 personnel out in the field, 16 were out for the entire duration of the rescue, from Saturday night until Sunday morning.
