Lyon County Deputies say they are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Tuesday morning in Mason Valley.
Deputies say 26-year-old Johnie Shadden was found dead at a home in Stanley Lane around 11:30 a.m. The Associated Press reports that Lyon County sheriff's spokesman Michael Carlson says that Shadden's husband first reported her death as an accident to authorities. The AP says the unidentified man was questioned but not arrested in the incident. Sheriff's deputies investigating the shooting death of a U.S. Postal Service worker in rural Nevada say they don't consider her husband a suspect in what he originally reported was an accident.
Deputies say Johnie Shadden, an on-duty postal worker, had stopped at her residence as part of her normal route when the incident happened. The AP reports that a gun was recovered at the residence.
She was pronounced dead outside the house. The AP says her home was on her normal delivery route, and that she also used it as a rest stop.
Deputies say this death investigation is being jointly conducted by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Postal Service and, the FBI.
Lyon County Sheriff Al McNeil says the shooting is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
