It's a job no homeowner wants to do, clean dirty trash cans. So a mobile cleaning service called Sierra Can Cleaners is transforming even the smelliest bin into a sanitary waste container.
It may look and sound like a garbage truck, but the Sierra Can Cleaners wash truck rolls up to the curb and takes your trash can for a different purpose.
"We pick up the can and wash it. Clean it out, sanitize, deodorize and get rid of all the funky nasty stuff," said Brent Falin, the President of Sierra Can Cleaners.
Brent Falin came up with the idea to create Sierra Can Cleaners after having children.Â
"Our kids were in diapers several years back and I was like, man, I have to figure out a way to do something about this, because no matter what you did, the can just stunk," said Falin.Â
Last year Falin started up the business and it has been the only trash can cleaners in Northern Nevada since. They use a high pressure system to get the job done.Â
Falin said, "It comes up, washes it all out, and then I'll wash the exterior of the can while it's draining out."
We're told this process also saves a lot of water.Â
A typical person uses about 15 gallons of water to wash their trash cans. But with this machine, it only takes 3 gallons to make it squeaky clean. And it's all self-contained.
"Nothing goes in the storm drains, down out into the environment," said Falin.Â
But the best part of this service has to be avoiding getting your own hands dirty.
"Nobody likes to crawl inside their trash can, it's kind of a gross disgusting thing to do," said Falin. "We offer the ease and convenience. It gets rid of the bacteria that grows in it, gets rid of the smell."
