Final numbers are in for 2 News' 31st annual Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive, and northern Nevadans showed up to help those in need in a big way.
More money was given in 2023 than in any year we have on record across all four of our locations in Reno, Carson City, Minden and Fernley.
Across all those locations, 135,146 pounds of food was collected and $381,531.85 was donated, including a generous $100,000 in matching funds from Corwin Auto Group.
At the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno 87,248 pounds of food were collected and $250,913.92 was donated for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
At the Carson Valley Inn in Minden 23.783 pounds of food were collected, while 117,977.18 was donated for the Carson Valley Food Closet.
At the Governor's Mansion in Carson City 18,510 pounds of food were collected while $8,380 was donated.
Those donations were divided between three community organizations.
Advocates to End Domestic Violence brought in 5,249 pounds of food and $2,680 in donations. Friends in Service Helping (F.I.S.H.) brought in 7.172 pounds of food and $3,500, while the Ron Wood Family Resource Center collected 6,089 pounds of food and $2,200.
At the Raley's in Fernley, which participated in Share Your Christmas for the first time this year, 5,605 pounds of food and $4,260 was collected for St. Roberts, Living Faith Christian Fellowship and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe.

DECEMBER 8TH UPDATE:
Our 31st annual 2 News Share Your Christmas Food Drive is in the books, and people and organizations from all over northern Nevada turned out or texted to give.
Numbers are rolling in for all four of our locations, though some numbers are not yet final.
At the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, 87,248 pounds of food and $248,741.92 was donated as of December 9.
At the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, 23,783 pounds of food were donated and $91,779.19 was donated as of our most recent update.
In Fernley, which was a part of Share Your Christmas for the first time this year, 5,605 pounds of food and $4,260.75 were donated at the local Raley's.
At the Governor's Mansion in Carson City Advocates to End Domestic Violence raised $2,680 and 5,249 pounds of food, while Friends in Service helping (F.I.S.H.) brought in 7,172 pounds of food and the Ron Wood Family Resource Center brought in 6,089 pounds of food.
We are still waiting for all numbers from Carson City.

Drop-off locations will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
There will be FOUR donation drop-off locations this year:
- Reno - Grand Sierra Resort and Casino
- Carson City - Governor's Mansion
- Minden - Carson Valley Inn
And new this year - Fernley at the Raley's at 1400 ALT-95/Commerce Way!Â
Monetary donations made Friday will be triple-matched by Corwin Auto Group up to $100,000! That’s money dropped-off at the event, given through the QR code on the TV screen and through text to give (below).
Although all non-perishable items are accepted, some suggestions include:Â
- Canned Meats
- Canned Fish
- Peanut Butter
- Macaroni & Cheese and Pasta Meals
- Powdered Milk
- Baby Formula, Baby Food
- Complete Meals-Stews, Chili, Ravioli, Hearty Soups, etc.
- Canned Fruits, Juice and Vegetables
- Dry Cereal
- Oatmeal
- Rice
- Pasta
You can also text the word "SHARE" and then a dollar amount to 50155 to donate directly to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
We're also collecting money and new toys.
