The South Lake Tahoe City Council will consider options to develop a framework for vacation rental home regulation.

There was a lot of disagreement with this topic during Tuesday night's public meeting -  the biggest concern was residential areas being overly consumed with multiple vacation homes and how it'll affect residents.

There was a lot of public comment and no official change was made to the plan.

However, they're considering how to allow permitting and enforcement that balances the needs of residents while ensuring responsible short-term rentals.

As we reported earlier this month, the council voted against appealing a ruling that declared measure t unconstitutional.

It passed in 2018 and would have banned vacation home rental permits but did not apply to permanent residents.
