Some Susanville residents have noticed cloudy or discolored water after recent earthquakes in the area.
The recent quakes on December 28 and 30 seem to have stirred up sediment in one of the city's spring sources, according to a release from the City of Susanville Water Division.
Some areas of the city's water distribution system could have also experienced temporary disturbance of sediments inside water mains.
These disturbances can cause turbidity, which manifests as cloudy or discolored water.
Turbidity levels are temporarily above California's aesthetic standard, which affects appearance only and is not health-based, the release said.
Water quality still meets all primary health standards, and a boil water notice is not required.
