Tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist Greg Kidd, the independent candidate for Congressional District 2, congratulated six-term incumbent Republican Congressman Mark Amodei on his re-election on Tuesday night.
Kidd is committed to presenting a viable alternative candidate in 2026, whether that candidate is him or another non-partisan individual.
"We are seeing different models of running for this race. We're not just Republicans and Democrats being at it with each other, so I want to set a different tone," said independent candidate Greg Kidd.
Kidd identifies as pro-choice and fiscally conservative, emphasizing that his positions are based on individual issues rather than party loyalty.
He is dedicated to advancing legislation that encourages industry innovation without burdening businesses with excessive oversight. Additionally, he aims to promote fair banking practices to provide rural communities with access to banking services that are often unavailable to them.
A key question in the campaign is whether eliminating financial and resource barriers would enable an independent candidate to compete successfully. According to predictions from D.C. oddsmakers, Kidd's chances of winning in CD2, a district that strongly favors Republicans (R+7), are estimated at 99-1.
Kidd, who self-financed his campaign, significantly boosted his name recognition in Northern Nevada by investing millions in advertising and canvassing.
Kidd has demonstrated success by outperforming most traditional Democrats who have challenged Congressman Amodei in previous races.
"Sometimes, the biggest risk you take is not taking a risk at all. So, thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope to see you tomorrow and in two years," said Kidd.
Congressman Amodei is the only Republican to represent Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives and serves as a leadership position for the Department of Homeland Security. He has won every re-election bid by double digits.
We've reached out to Congressman Amodei, but he has yet to respond.
