Officials with the City of Sparks are trying to get help for people affected by a standoff and shootout in the area of Greenbrae Drive and Rock Boulevard last week.

Two homeowners were displaced according to the City of Sparks, with their homes in need of significant repairs.

Sparks Councilmembers from the ward where the incident happened are partnering with the Builders Association Charity, which has established a fund where 100% of every donation received will directly support the impacted residents.

The Builders Association Charity has donated the first $2,500 to be deposited into the fund according to a release on the City of Sparks website.

"We believe in the strength of our community to rally together in times of need," said Chris Crawforth, Sparks Police Chief and Acting City Manager. "By joining forces with residents and organizations, we can make a positive impact and help the people whose homes were damaged through no fault of their own.”

The fundraising effort has been dubbed the Sparks of Hope Fund.

“The Builders Association Charity is proud to partner with the City of Sparks in meeting the needs and providing support to our communities residents that were the unintended victims of this critical incident,” said Corry Castaneda, Builders Association Charity President. “It is our mission to support the communities we build.”
