March 25:
The Sparks City Council chose Dion Louthan as Sparks City Manager.
A city council meeting was held on Monday, March 25, and Louthan was voted as the new city manager 5-0.
Louthan is currently working as the Assistant City Manager of Roseville, California.
Before choosing Louthan, the finalists were taken on tours of the city, introduced to employees, and attended a meet and greet on March 20.
At the meet and greet, community members were able to give feedback, which Mayor Ed Lawson said was taken into account when making the choice.
The next step is for an employment contract to be negotiated with Louthan and voted on in a future meeting.
"This has been a very thorough process,” said Lawson. “We feel we have chosen the right person to be our next city manager. Mr. Louthan is authentic, has extensive experience, and has excellent ideas about moving the City forward. We are excited to welcome Mr. Louthan to our Sparks team.”
