Over the past few days, avalanches have posed a risk for skiers, snowboarders, and people enjoying the backcountry of the Sierra Mountains.
With the end in sight of this week's snowstorm, risks have been slightly altered but still high.
According to the Sierra Avalanche Center, when the snowstorm passes, we can expect the great danger warning to be considerable danger on Friday. The Avalanche Center says natural avalanches are set to decrease, but the chance of a skier, snowboarder, or snowmobiler triggering an avalanche still poses high risks.
The Center says any visible clues to snowpack instability should not be explored. They also added windy areas are still a big risk for large avalanches to occur, and any recent areas that have been affected, your advised to stay away.
Officials also say higher winds are the cause of concern for avalanches on Friday.
